About the Author
Chantell Taylor is an attorney and political activist living with her husband and two daughters in Denver, Colorado. She devotes much of her energy to serving organizations that empower women and girls, and supporting efforts to get more women elected in all levels of public office. This is Chantell’s first children’s book and is just one of many ideas she has for inspiring girls to bust through barriers and achieve their full potential. |
About the Illustrator
Shawna JC Tenney had a love for drawing and creating ever since she could pick up a pencil. Her art career really took off when her first grade teacher asked her to make a mural for the first grade Christmas program. A few years later, Shawna studied art in college and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Brigham Young University in 2004. Shawna has enjoyed a career as an illustrator ever since. Shawna’s work has appeared in many children’s books and magazines. She loves making funny and whimsical art. Shawna lives with her artistic husband, two creative daughters and very lazy cat in Eagle Mountain Utah. When not going on adventures with her family, Shawna can be found in her studio dreaming up and drawing marvelous tales. |

Alan Bucknam is the owner and principal of Notchcode Creative, a graphic design and brand identity studio. He creates visual identities, publications and more for organizations of all kinds, and is the coauthor of two books on Participatory Action Research. He lives just west of Denver, Colorado, with his wife and three daughters. |
